Bio

Kristen was born in Michigan.  She grew up, went to college, got married, had three children, and settled there.  Until one day after living in many different areas of the state, she and her husband got itchy feet.
Her parents had thought it important to expose her to the United State, so by the time she graduated from high school she had visited 49 of the 50 states.  In college she added an overseas study trip to Europe.  Africa was calling her name so she and her husband packed-up the kids for a 6 week trip to Togo.  This later led her to Zambia.
She wanted to knock-off that last state, so when her husband was deployed to Alaska she pulled the kids out of school for several weeks and hopped on a plane to visit him.
They returned, put down some roots and let the kids grow-up a bit.  But wander-lust had taken ahold of this girl and planted some roots deep in her heart.  One day they gave a ton of crap away, put the rest in storage and headed off to New Zealand.  It was a year of adventure, the kids tried many new things, her husband had great work experiences, lifelong friends were made and she traveled all over the country basking in the culture and beauty of it all.
Somehow Hudsonville, Michigan didn’t have the same allure when she returned to set-up home again.  Work took her husband to Pakistan.  She stayed behind with the kids but couldn’t resist the opportunity to visit a country that no one vacations in.
Back in Michigan, the moving truck came again. The house sold.  The international life is the way for her.  She’s now set-up house in Bogota, Colombia.  The kids have settled in, her husband is busy at work.
Kristen graduated from Michigan State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design.  Although she isn’t pursuing that love now, she finds many things in the creative process make her feel fulfilled.
Kristen loves traveling.  She loves writing about what she sees and learns.  Other things that call her name are people, creating things (knitting, quilting or baking), studying her Bible and spending time in the great outdoors.
